The aim of the course is to introduce students to the field of Applied Ethnomusicology and to equip them with the skills to conceptualise Applied Ethnomusicology projects and outline appropriate methodologies for undertaking Applied Ethnomusicological research. The course will also discuss various career paths possible in the discipline. In addition, students will gain practical experience by providing technical assistance to an arts organization for 3-4 weeks. The course will also provide a discussion around cultural policy issues and debates related to the protection of indigenous music.
